SURF SAVAII NOT HAWAII

November thru April winds tend to either calm or mainly out of the  North.

While May thru October the South Coast gets hammered by solid ground swell from Antarctic storms.

Tides are a very important factor affecting surfing in Samoa. Although the tidal range tends to be small, most breaks can only be surfed on mid-to-high tide, and the reef may be fully exposed during low tide at many breaks.

Expert advice is recommended because of  often changing conditions, reef surf breaks and sometimes difficult land access.

SURF SAMOA

Most of Samoa ’s surf breaks are for advanced and experienced surfers only. The waves break directly on coral reefs and currents are often extremely strong. Please contact us for further details, prices and surf packages.

A little taste of what Samoa offers
Chewys
a very fun right hand that does not depend on tide, a rare find in the Samoa . Playful walls with hollow bend section inside. Most consistently fun everyday wave from 2 feet to 8 feet. Medium ride for intermediate to advanced surfers

Namu’s
on the other side of Chewys this wave wedges on take off and keeps bending until it hits the fast hollow inside section. Another rare find as it is best at low tide giving steep take offs and hollow sections. Medium ride for intermediate to advanced surfers.

Leper’s
a dramatic wave that breaks along a steep cliff off a barrier island once inhabited by a Leaper Colony. This left is comparable in length to Samoa 's most famous wave Boulders but offers more intensity and tube opportunities. Blows offshore in trade winds and breaks more consistently than Boulders. Advanced to Expert Surfers only need apply as a very unforgiving reef waits inside High tide only.

To'os
a very fun less intense left with hollow inside section that empties in to deep water. None tidal dependent and on bigger swells offers smaller surfing opportunities. Long board friendly at high tide and stand up tubes at low tide. Medium length ride Beginner to Advanced surfers. Can be an instruction wave when small.

Coat Hangers
a right located on the north side of our coast offering long mellow walls with fun sections for floaters and long board trimming. Offshore in trade winds and receives both swells North and South East. Long Ride for Beginner to Advanced surfers.
